Peter Watkins
Peter received training as a spiritual director from Sacred Ground Center for Spirituality in St. Paul, Minnesota. He earned an undergraduate degree in Philosophy from St. John’s in Collegeville, Minnesota and his M.Div. from University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. Peter taught religion to high school students for many years.
Peter’s approach to spiritual direction is through deep listening and helping individuals see what’s already “there” within themselves. He sees himself as a “miner” sifting for nuggets of wisdom and truth within his directees, helping them see and integrate their insights into their own spiritual journey.
Ignatian spirituality is a special interest for Peter, and he leads others through the Ignatian Exercises. He also loves to guide others in their discernment process and in their development of a “sense of God”. He also leads retreats on male spirituality and explores this topic with his male directees.
Peter is a parishioner at St. Clement’s Episcopal Church in St. Paul, a life-long runner, father to three adult sons, and an old-time music banjo player.
